Keychron K2 HE - Thoughts and impressions

I had been eyeing this keyboard for sometime now.

  1. For its looks - I thought would enhance my desk setup.
  2. Wanted to experience the magnetic switches.
  3. It is wireless, would sit in with my minimal wires on my desk (which somehow keeps evading me)

Looks

There is no denying, in the world of mechanical keyboards this is possibly the most elegant and clean looking option. It definitely elevates a desk setup.

The wooden frame on the sides adds a distinct, premium touch that really stands out.

75% layout

A compact layout that contains all the keys required for day to day typing while also retaining the arrow keys. A great balance between functionality and space-saving.

Build

The build quality is solid. The metal case, combined with the wooden side frames, gives it a reassuring heft. Once placed on the desk, the weight contributes to a very stable typing experience.

Wireless connectivity

There are options for wireless connectivity

  1. Using the USB dongle
  2. Bluetooth

Both worked well connecting with my Mac. I didn’t notice any connection drops during my (admittedly short) typing sessions.

Magnetic Switch

One of the major reasons for wanting to try this keyboard. Typing on this keyboard was buttery smooth.

Unfortunately, it’s also the reason I won’t be keeping it. I like tactile switches - cherry browns for the win!
