Iphone 16 Pro Max

Irony had it that I decided to opt for iphone 16 pro max. I wanted to try the larger screen. As someone who loves and optimistically hopes for a pro featured mini, against the tide I opted the iphone 16 pro max.

Two hand typing was very comfortable on the bigger screen. But again irony played its part - as someone who is intentional about my use of tech and apps, it didn’t make sense for me to go with the bigger screen. I don’t consume a lot of my media on the iphone. And when I do I do in on my ipad mini or macbook air. The bigger screen meant that it was also unweildy for me to take it with me on my walk sessions. And it isn’t meant for one hand

… within days of using the iphone 16 pro max, I decided to exchange for the pro.

There is a period of excitment and happiness with new tech, which fades with time. But sadly for this particular upgrade cycle of iphone there wasn’t an iota of excitment.

Upgrading from iphone 14 pro to the 16 pro there were a couple of things I could force myself to be excited about - the action button replacing the silent mode slider and the camera button. Those weren’t worthy enough for me fake a excitement for me sadly. I can’t feel the joy of moving towards a single cable solution as I still need the lightning for charging my apple airpods pro 2, magic keyboard and mouse¹.

To make matters even worse there is - Apple Intelligence! A feature that is available only on the 15 and 16 models. I already knew how little of use it was but some part of me was being optimistic. Well that optimism has been put to bed for now. The photo clean up is bad, image playground hardly holds a stick against its competitors, and the summarize notifications if you haven’t already read the plethora of articles online describing how hilarious it is with its summary well then it would start to get really annoying. I tried Apple intelligence’s proofread and gues what I not only had to proofread that but also needed to correct it :man_facepalming: .

Even after upgrading to 16 pro it still feels like I am using my 14 pro. Just a tad bit lighter.

The iphone 16 pro upgrade has been the most disappointing phone upgrade.
