Apple WWDC - Thoughts

If you are enthusiastic about tech, then by now you would know that Apple *OS 26 is about “LiquidUI”. Or what the internet likes to call - Windows Aero did right.

I installed iPad OS 26 on my mini, and one thing that I instantly liked is that the windowing system now has come to ipad mini. Unlike stage manager, which were reserved for the Pros, this time I can enjoy the windowing on my mini - which is very much welcomed. That said, with the smaller screen, there’s naturally less real estate for juggling multiple windows or apps. In most cases, it still feels more practical to use them fullscreen.

Liquid Glass

UI change small or big is always welcome. It helps keep things feeling fresh. Liquid Glass - atleast from my experience on the ipad mini has been a mixed bag. The fluidity and dynamics is appealing and feels nice to interact with.

However, while it shines in some areas, in others I found the legibility of certain buttons to be questionable. That said, this is still a developer beta, so I’m hopeful those issues will be ironed out 🤞.

Changes I have noticed so far:

  • Journal app - I was wondering when this was going to come to all the Apple devices. With *OS 26 it would be part of the ipad and Mac OS.
  • Preview app - Preview app is now a standalone app in ipad OS.
  • Games app - A dedicated center for games.
  • Clear icons still need work.
