Watch foyer

I started extending the phone foyer to my Apple watch as well. Most people might now have this problem, but I find myself in a unique position where every slack notification from work makes its way to the watch and disrupts my attention.

The notifications come in past the office hours and into the weekends Even though there is no expectation to respond to these notifications, the small guy inside my brain can’t seem to let it go.

There has been noticable calm and improved productivity gain since I stopped wearing my watch.

Distraction blocking devices/apps - Do we need yet another device?

I am not belittling the work of the companies/engineers who worked on these but rather stumped that we have come to this. We have so little self control that we need to pile on the endless list of devices we are lugging around to get our work that we need yet another one to help us focus aka keep us away from doom scrolling.

It might be that I am not affluent to spend money on a device/subscription to keep me away from the distraction called my smart phone. Or perhaps, I am smart enough that instead of purchasing a device and stashing it away in some place I instead just don’t take my smart phone with me when I need work done. This would make a perfect Khaby Lame instagram reel.
