Instagram - I am not rich yet! :P

So I was interested in Maven watches which I happened to discover through an instagram ad : Smart Watches vs Regular Watches

Whenever I go into instagram I have been seeing a lot of watches ads, thanks for trying instgram but the price tag on the watch ads I am seeing is nowhere near what I would be willing to pay for a watch at this time :P It is a ranging from $1000 all the way to $13000. Here is a tip at the moment I can at the very max convince my brain and my wife to go upto $300*.

* For that tag I have a lot bells and whistles

Rumors of iPad mini 7

There is rumors floating of a newer iPad mini, knowing Apple it is most likely going to sport an A series chip. If you a reader of my blog then you know that I like power in a smaller form factor. So I would like to see a M chip power on the mini but at the same time I know that wouldn’t happen either. Which is attributed to Apple’s smart marketting strategy.

Upon initially reading the news I was excited but then I also came to the realization that my ipad mini is serving me very well and I don’t particularly have a great reason to upgrade. So I might be skipping the upgrade cycle on the ipad mini too just like I decided to skip iphone 16.

Happy Navaratri + Vijaydashami

This time of year is quite a sight. Relatives and friends who celebrate keep golu and is great to watch people’s creativity at work.

So a good junk of the last 2 weekends went in visiting friends and relatives place who invited us for golu.

Growing up I didn’t think I would be a person who would feel notstalgic looking at golu’s but as it turns out I enjoy it more as an adult than I did growing up. And more so when it came to sundal eating. I absolutely hated it but now I kind of enjoy those who actually give sundal with freshly desiccated coconut.

Sundal is such a beloved part of the festival, but I can understand the desire to offer something different to keep things fresh and exciting for visitors as they feel that it would be offered in every other house to their visitors. But this thought has pervaded every host’s mind that majority of the hosts ended up skipping it. :P

We, robot

Tesla unveiled that we are closer to the iRobot future.

Tesla robotaxi

Well marketed as an avenue for passive income. Purchase at 30K robotaxi and then let it out as an Airbnb to generate money.

The car is futuristic and looks similar to something we have seen in iRobot. But it is kind of a bummer that it is limited to 2 seats at the moment. Looks like it is aimed mainly at office goers and singles/couples.

There are still a lot of things that remains a question mark for me

  1. How does the fare compare to an uber or a taxi?

This stems from the comparison being drawn to Airbnb. If you are guest renting out an Airbnb you are charged an extra fee for pet, cleaning. So I am guessing something similar should be at play here. Which would then lead to if it would still come out cheaper than say taking an uber or a taxi.

  2. What is the mainenance cost for the owner of a robot taxi

Every investment comes with it an overhead. With Tesla the biggest is probably the battery, a Google search would reveal that if you find yourself in the situation to change the battery then you are better off just replacing the vehicle. With Robotaxis does the $30k include the autonomous driving? one would assume that should be the case since it has no steering wheel it would be a costly metal sitting in the garage. Also do the robotaxis operate out of a garage at a assigned Tesla shed where the car would be cleaned and charged or would that be another add-on cost for the owner of the robotaxis to avail such a feature.

  3. On average how much profit would the owner of a robotaxi make?

Importantly at what point would the robotaxi actually start giving returns for its owners.

Tesla Van

Also a design very similar to what we have seen in the movie iRobot.

I am curious how this would operate as well, would this is be renting a whole or can people pool in. As I am pretty sure that if there is a family that want to get from point A to point B then renting a tesla van for the 4 surely wouldn’t be cost effective (I guess).

Tesla Bot

We are moving into the direction Isaac Asimov warned us. 😱

While I am excited about the sci-fi kind of future we are heading into. I am equally skeptical because there is a lot of information that is still not fully available to us for me to show my uncurbed excitement.
